This is the official AlderBot v2.0.0 release. It makes the code open source under the MIT License. The goal of this website is to provide documentation and formal updates to the bot.

Major Release Changes

  • Bot configuration for a server is now configured using a YAML configuration file instead of the server being manually configured.
  • MySQL database schema updated to better support API operations.

Alder API

  • Direct Discord Bot connection with MySQL database has been replaced with the introduction of the Alder API, a REST API using the Flask framework that handles operations with the database. This allows the bot to simply use the requests module to make HTTP requests to the API for performing operations. Additionally created an OpenAPI specification to document the Alder API.

Features

  • Automatic month reset - produces a message in announcements channel on month change (checked every 15 minutes), assigns awards to the users.
  • Automatic time sync for active users in activity rooms (checked every 15 minutes)
  • /top now returns the top 10 users for based on the leaderboard.
  • /top hstreak displays the top 10 users sorted by highest streak achieved
  • /top daily displays the top 10 users sorted by the daily time

Other changes

  • /top streak now displays “current streak” in the title
